Rioja, Basketball, Palomas

This is a beach near Gijón, undoubtably one of the most relaxing places in the world.
This is near the highest point in Asturias, one of the prettiest places that I have ever seen.
I was the farthest north person in all of Spain when this was taken. At Faro de Peñas.
Dad, like this one?
Chandler and I amongst some Reserve barrels.
3 Million bottles of wine in one room

Rioja was absolutely incredible, the wine was out of this world and getting to experience the vineyard / bodega atmosphere made it worth the while. Details to come, but we just got back from our 3rd basketball game, the other team was a no show so we played 3 on 3 which was pretty fun. Count it as a win! This weekend we are heading to Pepi's hometown of Palomas, which is about an hour north of Seville. Palomas is a very small town, only 700 people live there. We're planning a barbeque Thursday, Seville Friday, and Merida on Saturday. Merida is very famous for classic Roman architecture, it was the capital of the state of Spain in the Roman Empire.
Camille's birthday is tomorrow so we will be heading out in green for the festivities. Two weeks until Semana Santa! Hope everyone is doing well,
Drew

Rioja, aqui vamos... here we go

Just got done with classes, and finalized with 2 vineyards / bodegas about our tours for this weekend. One of them was started by Franco while he was in power, and it is the oldest vineyard in Rioja. The other is supposed to be the prettiest so we will see how that goes. We also found out that the Davis cup tennis tournament (Spain vs. Switzerland) is going on in Logroño (Capital of Rioja) this weekend so we are going to try to go to that also. Train leaves from Madrid at 6:30 and we should arrive around 9. Buen fin de Semana, have a good weekend.riojaHEAD.jpg

Where the Mountains meet the beach / Basketball

We arrived in Alcala around 9 last night and I did some studying late into the night but got it all done, what a beautiful place Asturias is. I cant describe how green and hilly the entire region is, except for the snow on the mountains and sand on the beach. It was a perfect combination of all the elements of nature. More to come on this and Rome, we won our first basketball game today 5 americans v 6 spaniards until 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter I fouled out, but Charlie and the rest held the lead... 1-0... siesta
