We arrived in Alcala this past Saturday from a great week in Oropesa del Mar and Valencia. The beach was great and downtown Valencia is one of my favorite places in all of Spain, the town hall is especially incredible.
Its currently Tuesday afternoon around 6:30 and Dad, Burns, and I are riding on the Alsa supra class bus from Madrid to Logroño (Rioja), with WIFI and we hare having a blast. So far I have shown them Madrid, Alcala, and Toledo. Here is a post from Sunday:
We just got back from a long great day in Madrid.
I picked Dad and Burns up from the airport around 730 this morning, we came to Alcala, dropped the bags off then walked around some, ate some breakfast, and napped until about 3.
We went back to Madrid around 4 and went to the Prado, walked around the royal gardens, then we moved to Gran Via, which is the biggest street in Madrid.
We decided to stop in a restaurant near the Telefonica building for a quick snack. We got 2 glasses of Rioja wine and 1 coke along with 3 typical spanish tapas: spanish omelet, potatoes bravas, and ham and cheese. It was all really good they were impressed with the Spanish food.
After that we walked to puerta del sol, which means doorway to the sun, and that is where the very center of Spain is. All of Madrid circles around that plaza. Then we went to the plaza mayor, a huge old plaza that used to be a bull-fighting ring, and wrapped up the day with the royal palace and royal garden.
For dinner we went to an awesome place, got a 1/2 bottle of muga with mixed salad, red peppers, bacon pieces, french fries, bread, and a huge piece of meat call chopped ox. They brought us a mini grill on the table and we grilled the meat ourselves it was a lot of fun and extremely good, probably the best meal I've had in Spain.
We took the metro to the train station and train to Alcala and they are surely asleep in el bedel hotel right now. (their room is really nice it has an entrance room and 2 big beds).
We have a 12 oclock train to toledo tomorrow, then we come back at 6 and Pepi is hosting a dinner for us, should be another great day. (It was)
